Making Hair Bows

In the last little while I've been trying my hand at making some hair bows. I'm still learning but thought I'd share my first tries here on our blog. I did make one more bow but Kristina has misplaced it so I'll post a pic when I find it again. Let me know what you think :)
I made one for Kristina to match the new dress Oma bought her for her birthday and I also made one for my neice for her birthday (I didn't get a good one of her wearing it though). The one I made for my neice turned out a little bigger than I had hoped but she seemed to like it :) I also got a lot of compliments on how the bow matches Kristina's new dress perfectly (you can see in the photo of her clowning around with the badminton rackets!)

Seven years ago I was in the hospital ...
in pretty painful labour awaiting the birth of our beautiful baby girl, Kristina Alicia.
She was born by emergency c-section a few hours later at 2:10 am after the dr. broke my water and her heart rate plummeted. Thankfully she was born healthy - 21 1/2 inches long, 8lbs 10oz.
I can't believe she will be 7 years old already tomorrow! Where have those years gone?
We went to my parents house today to celebrate hers, mine (March 17th), and my neice's birthday (March 18th) as well as Easter and she got lots of new stuff - a Bratz doll, a Barbie, a Polly Pocket, and a Webkinz. Plus she went out for lunch and shopping with Oma (my mom) the other day and was SPOILED with TWO new dresses, a pair of shoes, two pairs of pantyhose, and a new purse! I was also spoiled tonight with the new Celine Dion CD, a pair of pj's, a book, and a gift card to a ladies clothing store.
I just wrapped all Kristina's gifts and I am thankful I bought it ages ago - a whole bunch of princess decor for her room to match her bedroom set (a new lamp, Sing-a-long DVD, picture frame, piggy bank, a pillow, a garbage can, a storage container, a "snow/glitter" globe, and a birthday girl crown) - I got it for a great deal - only $60 at the swap meet (and it's all in brand new shape), as well as 10 new Amelia Bedelia books that I picked up for 50c each at the same swap meet.
Hoping to post up some pics tomorrow of my SEVEN YEAR OLD!
Happy Birthday Princess :)

Cool site to teach kids about nutrition
I came across this cool site called Nourish Interactive which is a site for kids to learn about nutrion and health in a fun way! It's free to join and has games and other fun learning tools. I'm looking forward to trying it out as a cool March Break activity with the kids :)
Last day of school before March Break
Well I'm enjoying the quietness today ... Kristina is in school and so is Brant ... the last day before Spring Break. The dynamic at home changes so much when all three kids are home (especially Kristina for some reason) and the house just gets noisy. I know a big part of the problem is that the boys are not at Kristina's "level" and she has no playmate. She tries her best to play with the boys but they frustrate her when they don't play "her" way. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to do a couple of playdates during the break. Also it will be Kristina's birthday on the 22nd - I still haven't decided 100% what we'll be doing for her big day since she has 8 girls in her class this year plus there are a couple more that she also wants to invite. If they all come it will be a zoo! So we'll see what ends up happening :) I am looking forward to sleeping in and no running to the bus in the morning! Now hopefully it won't be too hard to convince Krsitina (my early riser) that it's ok to stay in bed after 6am!!!

Hi I'm Katrina, wife to Colin, mom to Kristina, Brant, and Owen. This blog was created to keep family and friends updated on the goings on in our lives ... the joys and challenges of raising three children.
