Brant had a checkup today to follow up with the Orthopedic Surgeon that did his Spinal Surgery last December as well as the Cardiologist who has been following him since we moved here (Brant had Open Heart Surgery when he was 8 months old). I always get nervous about these visits as my worst fear is him having to have one of his surgeries "re-done". Having a child in major surgery is NO FUN!
Everything went great save for the fact that the x-ray tech didn't get a good angle on the first x-ray so we had to redo it. Brant was not impressed!
The Orthopedic Surgeon said he is healing wonderfully. He is extremely happy with how Brant's rib bone is filling in nicely and the hardware looks great, etc. He even cleared him to do hippotherapy again as long as it's in a controlled environment and the horses only walk! We have to go back in a year unless any concerns arise in the meantime.
The Cardiologist also said Brant is doing wonderful and is "fixed" as far as he is concerned. We don't have to do anymore followup visits at all unless we have any concerns.
Oh and Brant had his weight and height checked. He is now 94.9 cm tall and weighs 14.2 kg. (37.5 inches and 31 lbs) Pretty good considering he weighed 26 lbs forever! It's nice to see he is finally gaining weight - probably because his PT has him lifting weights and working hard every week! LOL
So YAY! A good visit! :)
